The LEADER Project is a student-run initiative at the Richard Ivey School of Business.  Every May, approximately 50 Ivey students (half first year MBAs and half second year MBAs, with the odd PhD and HBA thrown in for good measure), travel to a number of sites in the Former Soviet Union (FSU) and Cuba and spend three weeks teaching business courses mainly to undergraduate students.  The purpose is to expose the FSU students to western business practices and techniques, introduce them to the case study method, and allow them to interact with business students from North America.

In 2003 , for the first time, the LEADER project offered an intensive one-week Entrepreneurial Training program for people from around Ukraine who had business ideas and were looking for feedback and advice on how to start their businesses. In the inaugural year, we held the program on an experimental farm in central Ukraine called Agro-Soyuz. In 2004, we expanded the program to include a second site in Togliatti, Russia. These pages contain a description of the program as well as my experiences with it in both my years there.
